How Orthene PCO Insecticide Works

With 97.4 percent acephate, Orthene PCO Insecticide targets and kills pest insects that have grown resistant to other pesticides. Once contacted or ingested, it coverts to methamidophos, a stronger insecticide and affects the insect's nervous system. The insect then experiences over-activity in its nerves and muscles and eventually dies. Acephate also penetrates leaf surfaces, providing quality control over many different leaf-damaging insects such as aphids and leaf miners. Orthene PCO comes in pellet form, dissolves easily in water and produces less residue dust than similar pesticides.
