Containing imazapic as the primary ingredient, Plateau is used as a pre- and post-emergent herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds and annual and perennial grasses. Once it's sprayed onto the weed, the chemical agent quickly translocates throughout the plant, including any edible portions such as seeds and leaves. Therefore, you should never use Plateau on food crops. It destroys the weed from the inside and suppresses growth in the target area.
For the control and suppression of weeds and turf height, Plateau provides superior results when it's used as directed. It's labeled for use in noncrop lands, ditch banks, prairie sites and nonresidential turf. It keeps weeds controlled on petroleum tank farms, utility plant sites and highway rights of way. You can also use Plateau in grassy areas on golf courses, airports and recreational sites. However, it is not labeled for use on residential lawns.
Plateau herbicide controls the toughest and most noxious weed species in noncrop areas, such as cheatgrass and tall fescue. It also controls Bahia grass, leafy spurge and bindweed on roadsides and industrial turf. Use Plateau herbicide to kill and control:
Whether it's cheatgrass or tall fescue, Plateau herbicide kills tough weeds and grasses with a solitary application. You can use it as a spot, air or ground application and mix it with other herbicides in the tank for optimal control. It kills weeds and grasses along roadsides and keeps golf courses in pristine condition. If you want an herbicide that handles the toughest weeds, don't use anything other than Plateau weed killer.

SDS/LabelsHow long after application as a pre- emergent may Plateau tolerant wildflowers and grasses be seeded?
Plateau is a selective herbicide in that, some plants are tolerant of a pre- and/or post-emergent application (most WSGs and some forbs/wildflowers). Some forbs/wildflowers seed sources will refer to species as “Plateau tolerant,” in fact, that truly indicates that they are tolerant of the imazapic the active ingredient. Perenial Wildflowers, Legumes and Short Grasses toloerant to Plateau Herbicdes include: sideoats grama, shasta daisy, upright prairie coneflower, blue grama, purple prairieclover, leadplant, buffalograss, Illinois bundleflower, bicolor Lespedeza, black-eyed susan, gold yarrow, mexican hat, partridgepea, lupine, ox-eye daisy, purple coneflower, sensitive vine, and wild violet. IF the wildflowers and grasses are not Plateau Tolerant then you will need to wait 4 to 6 weeks to be on the safe side
Does this herbicide come in granular form as well?
Unfortunately It does not. Sorry
I have a Japanese Stiltgrass infestation in a big bed of English Ivy here in Virginia. I would like to find a product that will control the Stiltgrass (preemergent and maybe even post emergent) but will NOT harm the Ivy. Any suggestions?
What is the coverage per gallon?
Hello Sir
Please see the Plateau Herbicide Label from the link below to answer your specific questions. Coverage rates will depend on the type of application

WILL IT KILL MARESTAIL IN WILDFLOWERS?
Without knowing what wildflowers are present we cannot determine how much damage may occur. It will control the desired weeds but the damage ma be significant.
Will this kill English ivy?
This would not be the best choice it would give us control but it may not be complete depending on the level of infestation. Better choices would be either Cornerstone 5 Plus or Garlon Ultra.
We use this in our Association and get many calls asking if this is safe for animals? Thank you!
After 24 hours it is pet safe
