Shredder herbicide contains 88 percent 2-ethylhexyl ester of 2, 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. Referred to more commonly as 2,4-D, this active ingredient kills weeds by imitating their growth hormone. After an application, Shredder penetrates the leaves and causes unsustainable and uncontrollable growth. As a result, the weeds begin to curl over, wither and die.
